Can I use Fees Free for both provider-based study and work-based learning at the same time?

Yes, as long as you meet the learner eligibility criteria and the courses and programme you enrol in meet the course and programme eligibility criteria.

You will be able to access Fees Free until you reach 1 EFTS of provider-based study, 24 months of work-based learning, or $12,000 across all study and training. When you reach one of these caps, your entitlement stops.

Note that these settings apply to the first-year Fees Free policy.

From 2025, the first-year Fees Free policy is operating under transition settings. In 2025, you can continue to use your remaining entitlement (up to 1 EFTS of provider-based study, 24 months of work-based learning, or $12,000) if you used Fees Free in 2024 and are continuing in the same qualification.

However, if you didn’t use Fees Free in 2024, or you used it but you’re not continuing in the same qualification in 2025, you will not be able to use Fees Free for future studies.
